San Antonio, TX

We arrived at Mission City RV Park (formerly Alamo City RV) on Tuesday about 3:30, after a 300-mile push from the last stop. The weather, highway and traffic were all good (except for the last 5 miles in commute traffic), it was otherwise an uneventful trip with plenty of Texas-style landscape.

Mission City RV park is clean, quiet and accommodating, and about 5 miles easy driving to Alamo Plaza ... We're planning 3 nights here so we can take in the sights. It felt good to drop anchor and relax for the evening.

Wednesday we headed for the Alamo; a few pictures follow. So much history here, and Texas has preserved the Alamo structure (the church building) and the spirit of the many who gave their lives in 1836. We rented the audio tour pass and had small, cellphone-size devices to listen to the many stops along a self-guided tour.

The grounds of the old mission around the Alamo building were impeccably maintained. Take a minute and read the history in the following picture ... so much you don't read in our history books, that can only be found through a visit.

(note the social distancing sign, measured in Bowie knives)

The River Walk was a unique experience and so much fun. The Tex-Mex we had for lunch at the Rio Rio Restaurant, right on the river, was excellent! We decided to do the river boat tour as well, because the boat captain/guide gave additional information about all the points-of-interest along the river (and the area around downtown); well worth the $10 ticket.
