We parted ways today with the rest of the group, all who were headed for Albuquerque for a couple nights with Don and Pat. Since Louise and I thought it might be nice to stay another night or two to take in a few more sites, we pulled anchor at the KOA and headed for Las Cruces Elks Lodge, only 15 minutes away.
We were pleased to find a beautiful RV parking area with full hook-ups for just $25/night. The lodge had just opened from being closed due to the pandemic, so things inside were not back to normal yet ... except for the bar, of course! I see a bloody Mary in my future!
So, we parked and headed to the local Tractor Supply to refill the propane tank, then came back and leveled-up for the night. Since it was still early, we headed for the Museum of Nature and Science downtown only to find out it was closed (along with the other places we wanted to visit, like the Train Museum and the Farm and Ranch Heritage Museum).
However, we found the entire main street was blocked and filled with 8 blocks of street vendors and arts and crafts exhibits ... what else could we do but grab a snow cone and walk the blocks! Fun!!!
