Texas Big and BBQ

I'm sure you've heard about the legendary "bigness" of everything in Texas ... well, in some cases, it's very true. We stopped by a Central Market on the way back to the RV to pick up a few things. OMG! This market was one of those mazes you are directed through so you won't miss anything you might need. Okay ... what about "finding" what you do need? This place was huge with a capital "H". Everything was laid out perfectly and presented in a very inviting fashion. Potatoes anyone? Any kind?

Yes, those would be bananas, all lined up perfectly! Most of the food displays were so large I couldn't fit one completely in the lens.

And, of course, no trip to Texas would be complete without visiting a hole-in-the-wall Texas BBQ place. We found one that exceeded our expectations, and then some. Your choice of meet was cut right in front of you, and heaped on a giant homemade bun. We couldn't eat it all ... but, we gave it a good try! Forgot to take a pix of the serving ... just too hungry and wanted to dig it.

The food was great! Only a few tables inside, and plenty of places to sit outside.

Oh, I forgot to mention our crossing into Texas a few miles back ... and the Border Patrol check point. Very interesting! Well staffed with armed officers in green uniforms, and a few people being held for interrogation against a wall as we were waived through. Louise took only a few pix here, as we didn't want to call attention to ourselves and be subjected to a possible search. You really have to admire this branch of law enforcement ... currently a thankless job.
