Montevallo, AL

Yesterday we visited one of the most unique and incredibly interesting parks we've ever been to; the 40-acre Orr Park in Montevallo, about 1-1/2 hours from here. A fellow named Tim Tingle, a coal miner by trade, took it upon himself to transform storm damaged cedar trees into glorious works of art beginning in the early 1990's. He continues to bless the city with his talents today. A bridge crosses from parking areas into the park over a fast flowing river.

If trees could talk, they may have these faces ...

These are just a very few pictures ... There are many, many trees to see, almost impossible to find some that are hidden behind you as you walk through. Just incredible. A couple we spoke with who frequently walk the trails in the park (ham radio ops, both) told us Mr. Tingle carves each by hand with large wood chisels, similar to what you would use on a lathe. What a magical imagination this man must have? https://www.cityofmontevallo.com/OrrPark.aspx
