Fishing Coosa River

Son-in-law Dan and I fished the Coosa River this morning, pre-fishing for a tournament that he and Daughter Christie will fish tomorrow. The Coosa is a tributary of the Alabama River and Georgia and is 280 miles long.

The idea of pre-fishing is to locate fish that will hopefully be there the next day, to reduce the time it takes to find good fish during a timed tournament event. Weather was perfect and it didn't take long to find some quality fish.

I caught the first fish, a one pound large mouth bass. 2nd fish was a little bigger, about 2 lbs. Then Dan put a nice 2 pounder in the boat. I caught two more, the largest, a 3lb spotted bass … big fish for this trip and a very nice fish for the species.

Of course, this is all catch-n-release, so hopefully they will be there to catch again tomorrow. The first pix is of Dan's new Falcon bass boat; 250hp, Mercury V8 outboard. Fast and smooth!!!

I'm sure we'll be out on the water soon again … standby for more fishing fun.
