San Diego Automotive Museum
The Automotive Museum next door to Air and Space was also a very cool place to spend some time. This museum is another "must see" if you are in San Diego. Most of these museums are opened on a restricted schedule, with the best time for a visit on a weekday to beat the crowds. And, rather than paying for each visit, I recommend buying an annual pass, which affords unlimited entry on "your time", any day of the week ... way more flexible. Just consider the extra cost a donation to the cause of preservation and history.
So, here are a few pictures of cars and bikes that are sure to give you a flavor of what's inside. If cars are your thing, you'll find what you need to satisfy that yearning here.
You probably noticed the architecture of this building ... most of the museums have spared no $$$ making the exteriors look beautiful, some are truly breathtaking. So, here are a few pictures of autos and maybe a few motorcycles.
Yes, the one above is Italian, a Lamborghini, I think ... I just love the flowing designs of Italian sports cars, don't you?
Next up, one of the very early Tesla roadsters on a Lotus body. I think Musk launched the one he owned into space at one point. So, these are very rare ... A friend of mine here in Auburn owns one of these and says that Tesla is constantly after him to buy it, so they can destroy it. Say what? Yes, they can no longer service or maintain the model so Tesla wants them GONE.
Have you ever wanted to own an old "woody wagon", or a classic '55 Chevy Nomad? How about a "Bucket-T"? I found beautiful examples of these cars here.
Okay, I'll finish up with a couple motorcycle pix for you 2-wheel enthusiasts, then wrap up this blog and get onto the next. The first is one of the original 750cc flat track racing sportsters with a shovel head engine.
Then, a Triumph Trident; 3 cylinders, three exhausts, three carburetors ... Triple the fun, and probably the tickets you can earn on this baby!
So, stay tune for more ...
